Michael Perez

Mike Perez offers Paik Deal’s clients thoughtful support in a variety of corporate matters. He brings simultaneously broad and intimate experience to help businesses in their formation, growth, transactions, and exits. Mike has supported small companies, startups, and large corporations as outside counsel. He has also been a business owner himself, having cofounded a software company and serving as general counsel and COO for seven years. Mike now offers that in-depth, pragmatic experience to help creative people realize their visions and build great companies in the process.  

Mike also offers his clients an eye for avoiding conflict and efficient conflict resolution, having been a litigator in the first half of his legal career. Mike has extensive experience assisting with internal investigations in personnel matters, labor issues, and government inquiries. He can also help resolve civil conflict or advocate adeptly in civil litigation.

Mike went to law school at the University of Michigan, where he graduated cum laude in 2004. He was a member of the University of Michigan Journal of Race and Law, publishing an article on "Fair and Facially Neutral Higher Education Admissions Through Disparate Impact Analysis." In undergrad, Mike majored in Political and Social Thought at the University of Virginia.  

Mike is a founding board member of Union Capital Boston, a growing, local nonprofit that’s quickly making a name for itself as an innovative program for low-income communities to build social capital. He also has a diverse pro bono practice, involving immigration law, public benefits litigation, and supporting small business.
